Ovarian Cysts Natural Treatments

Monday, October 18, 2010

An ovarian cyst, according to Wikipedia, is any collection of fluid, surrounded by a very thin wall, within an ovary. Any ovarian follicle that is larger than about two centimeters is termed an ovarian cyst. An ovarian cyst can be as small as a pea, or larger than an orange.

Ovarian cysts can happen to any woman of about any age who often will experience both physical and emotional pain as well. Ovarian cysts often cause no symptoms; however, when symptoms are present, ovarian cysts may cause a dull ache or a sense of fullness or pressure in the abdomen. Pain or pressure is caused by a number of factors, such as size, bleeding or bursting of a cyst, which irritates the abdominal tissues.

Normally people try to find help with classical medical treatment which involves medications and surgery (usually laparoscopic surgery). Traditional medicine focuses on symptoms, and doctors usually encourage women to take hormonal medications which mask and reduce the symptoms, but they will do nothing to actually prevent future ovarian cysts.

Surgery, has the same problem. It can remove cysts that are currently on the ovary, but can not avoid any future cysts from developing. Moreover, even if Ovarian cyst removal is not generally considered to be a risky surgery it can cause pain and there are risks of infection and other problems. The main problem with surgery is that it will remove the cysts currently on the ovaries, but it will not be a long term solution.

Women should try first a natural (holistic) treatment for ovarian cysts. These treatments can be often more effective than the medications prescribed by doctors and usually work quickly.

The holistic (natural) method has been wonderful for many women and it's something you can start doing when you wish and soon experience relief. The natural treatment for ovarian cysts focuses on the root causes of the cysts. If you can remove the root cause, the cysts may go away on their own.

A simple natural treatment to reduce pain, inflammation, and pressure on your lower pelvic area is to apply heat. This can be done either in a warm bath or by using a heating pad.

Diet is also a major part of any holistic treatment and you should increase your water and fiber intake, There are specific diet plans that require you to cut out foods that are high in saturated fats, and to get plenty of fiber rich foods. You should also drink at least eight glasses of water a day and there are also certain teas that can help your body to process and filter out toxins.

If you use a suitable diet, ovarian cysts will gradually disappear and they are much less likely to develop in the future.

Cysts often develop and become painful when there is too much pressure on the reproductive organs. Hormonal pills and surgery can solve the immediate problem, but they cannot insure long term relief. If you change your lifestyle habits, you can often remove the need to depend on medications and surgery for relief from the condition.
