Natural Ovarian Cyst Treatment is Better Than Traditional Treatment

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

Did you know that over 95% of ovarian cysts are benign, meaning that they are not cancerous. There are times when ovarian cysts can pose a threat to your health and in some cases even cause death. It's a common disease that effects all women at some stage in their life.

Even though most cases of ovarian cysts are harmless, it doesn't mean that you should take them for granted. Especially, if there are cases where the cyst grows to a size larger than 4cm.

Whether the cyst is benign or malignant, it's massively important that you know the symptoms. These include, pain in the lower abdomen, pain during sexual intercourse and delayed, regular and painful periods. Being aware of the symptoms will significently help with how you treat your cyst.

If you feel that you are suffering from any of the symptoms, see your doctor immediately. You need to find out if your cyst is simple or complex. If it's just a simple cyst, then it will just heal on it's own. Anything else, then you need to start considering your ovarian cyst treatment options.

Your doctor will usually recommend oral contraceptives like birth control pills or pain relievers such as anti-flammatories like ibuprofen. These types of treatment may temporily help but they don't address the root of your problem.

A lot of the times the cyst will keep returning and be a continuous hazard to your daily life. Until the only option left for the doctor to recommend is surgery.

Surgery is risky, depending on the severity of the problem, it can be anything from ovarian cystectomy (removal of the cyst) to oophorectomy which varies from the removing part of the ovary to removing both ovaries, fallopian tubes and uterus. With an oophorectomy, you lose one or both ovaries, meaning you will become infertile.

In the end, surgery doesn't guarantee a happy ending. Even if you have a cystectomy, the chances are high that another cyst will reappear. You don't really want to keep going under the knife for your ovarian cyst treatment.

The problem with traditional ovarian cyst treatment is that it doesn't address the root of the problem. This is where natural treatment is useful.

A good way to alleviate the pain of an ovarian cyst is to apply hot compress to your lower abdomen. This relieves the affected areas from the worse feeling of pain.

But the ultimate aim is to arm yourself with knowledge of knowing what to do to avoid it. This is why natural ovarian cyst treatment is a better long term solution. Below are a few recommended methods of natural treatment.

Acupuncture. This provides a different kind of relief from the pain. It's best used in the smooth circulation of the blood.

Herbal remedies. There are various types of herbal remedies, for example herbal teas like chamomile tea, which relaxes your muscles.

Vitamin B. The intake of vitamin B is recommended.

Changing diet. It may be wise to alter your diet, include more fruits and vegetables, or follow a vegetarian diet until the ovarian cysts shrink or dissolve. It's recommended that you also cut down on eating red meat and dairy products. Eating less sugar and white flour also allows the body time to heal and re-balance itself.
